Screw Flight
A screw flight is the spiral or helical metal blade welded around a central pipe or shaft in a Screw Conveyor or auger to push, pull, or mix bulk materials.
Key Design Parameters
- Outer Diameter (OD): The total width of the screw helix, which determines the outer boundary inside a trough.
- Inner Diameter (ID): The size of the inner hole that fits snugly over the central shaft or pipe.
- Pitch: The axial distance from one flight crest to the next, equal to the travel distance of material per full rotation.
- Thickness: The gauge or width of the metal plate, chosen based on load and wear resistance.
