Screw Conveyors
A screw conveyor is a mechanical handling device that uses a rotating helical screw blade—called a flighting—inside a stationary tube or U-shaped trough to push bulk or granular materials forward.
Working Principle
- Archimedes' Screw: The design roots trace back to ancient pumping mechanisms, where turning a spiral thread creates a continuous forward pushing motion.
- Axial Transfer: As the motor rotates the central shaft, the flighting acts as a moving wedge that transfers powders, grains, or semi-solids smoothly from the inlet to the outlet.
